More discounts are available than what you see listed here. Our best advice: it never hurts to ask!

Banks

BMO Bank of Montreal offers a free savings and chequing account that comes with 12 free monthly transactions or discounts on other accounts, if you're 60 or older.

CIBC offers CIBC Smart for Seniors that includes discounted monthly fees on certain bank accounts if you're 65 or older.

Scotiabank's offer if you're aged 60 and over includes lower monthly fees on eligible accounts.

Education

York University, Toronto: If you are a Canadian citizen /permanent resident aged 60 or older, you may be eligible for a tuition waiver.

Entertainment and Attractions

Art Gallery of Hamilton: 20% discount on admission if you are 65 or older.

Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto: $16 general admission (rather than $19.50) if you are at least age 65.

Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art, Toronto: $11 admission (rather than $15) if you are 65 or older.

McMichael Art Gallery, Kleinburg: $15 (rather than $18) for a regular pass if you are 65 or more.

National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa: $13 (rather than $15) for general admission if you are 65 or older.

Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto: $17 admission (rather than $20) if you are at least age 65.

Stratford Festival: Exact ticket pricing depends on seat location, date and time, but there are discounts available if you're 65 or older.

Tafelmusik, Toronto: Discounts are available on certain concerts if you are 65 or more.

Toronto Zoo: $18 admission (rather than $23) if you are 65 or older.

Hotels

CARP/AARP members: As a member of CARP or its U.S. counterpart, AARP, you are eligible for discounts at various hotel chains, including Best Western, Choice Hotels, Wyndham Resorts, and Radisson Hotels. Some chains have a minimum age requirement as well.

Fairmont Hotels: In addition to the CARP discount, Fairmont Hotels may also have seniors' promotions with discounts at specific hotels if you're at least age 55.

Marriott Hotels:  If you're 62 years or older, you can save 15% or more on your room rate at Marriott brand hotels worldwide, seven days a week.

Sandman Hotel Group: Seniors 55 years or better enjoy year-round preferred rates at all locations throughout Canada if you sign up for the 55 Plus Senior Program

Restaurants

Burger King: Seniors 65+ get free coffee or tea in some restaurants

Country Style: 10% senior discount (65+) in some restaurants

Mandarin: Seniors 65 years old and more (with valid I.D.) receive 20% off the buffet price

McDonald's: McDonald's offers coffee discounts for seniors at participating locations

Tim Hortons: 10% senior discount (60+) at many restaurants

Wendy's: 10% senior discount (55+) in some restaurants

Shopping and Retail

Bulk Barn: 10% off for seniors every Wednesday

Home Hardware: Seniors' discount at some locations

Hudson's Bay: 15% senior discount (60+) first Tuesday of the month

Laura Secord: 15% senior discount first Monday of the month

M&M Meat Shops: 10% senior discount every Tuesday

Michaels: 10% daily discount for seniors

Rexall Drugs/Pharma Plus: Every Tuesday, seniors 55 and older save 20%

Rona Hardware: 10% senior discount first Tuesday of the month

Salvation Army Thrift Stores: 15% off for seniors every day

Shopper's Drug Mart: Seniors Discount Day every Thursday with a 20% discount for those aged 65+

Value Village: Seniors' (60+) discount every Tuesday

Transportation

Greyhound Bus: Passengers age 62 and older may request a 20% discount on unrestricted fares

Toronto Transit Commission: Special rates for seniors aged 65+ on single fares, monthly passes

VIA Rail: 10% discount for seniors (aged 60+) with a VIA Rail profile. Further 10% for those with a CAA card

York Region Transit: Special rates for seniors aged 65+ on single fares, monthly passes
