MROO speaks on behalf of OMERS retirees. We share your views with OMERS and all levels of government and represent our membership on legislative matters that affect retirees.We advocate on your behalf and with your input in these areas:

  • Seniors’ independent living: public policies and programs for home care and community support across Ontario

  • Long-Term Care options and public policies in Ontario and Federally with a focus on not-for-profit care

  • Healthcare coverage for seniors in Ontario and Nationally

OMERS Governance Review 2025

Special Advisor Robert Poirier was appointed in 2024 to conduct a review of the OMERS governance model. The review was initiated in response to fairness, equity and transparency concerns raised by stakeholders who are part of the pension plan. Learn more about MROO's response.

Housing Options for Ontario Seniors

In 2020, MROO established a Housing Support for Ontario Seniors Committee (HSOS) to develop a strategy for long-term care housing in Ontario and advocate for other housing options for seniors. 

Healthcare for Ontario Seniors

MROO continues to advocate for equitable and accessible healthcare for all Ontario seniors, including long-term care home. During COVID-19, MROO donated over $63,000 to organizations across Ontario. In 2021, MROO advocated for the re-implementation of free and accessible eyecare for all seniors.
